FAQ
A few things
worth knowing.
Getting started, bringing your context along, and making Index your own.
Getting started
What is Index?
Index is a home for context you want to carry between AI conversations. Save useful information in Boards, organize it in your dashboard, and retrieve it through a connected tool. Take a look at the product.
What goes in a Board?
A Board holds the context behind a project or topic: a brief, a decision, a reference, or a preference. Each saved piece is an entry. Start with one project and the details you find yourself explaining again.
How do I connect my AI?
Start with Settings → Connectors in your dashboard. Use the guide for your tool, or connect a compatible MCP client. Developers can use the Connector API. The quickstart walks through saving and retrieving your first detail.
Your memory
Does every conversation get saved?
Connecting a tool does not mean every conversation is copied into Index. What gets saved depends on the connector and capture mode you use. Start by asking your connected AI to save a specific detail, then review it in your dashboard.
Can I change what Index remembers?
Yes. You can review and edit saved entries in your dashboard, organize them into Boards, and remove context you no longer want to keep. You can also export your data from your account.
What does Volt do?
Volt is the chat inside Index. Use it to ask questions about your saved context and follow the relevant sources back to your Boards. See an example.
Where can I read about my data?
Our Privacy Policy explains how Index processes saved context and uses service providers. For connection setup and access permissions, see authentication in the docs.
Plans & teams
Can I start for free?
Index is currently by invitation; public registration is closed. Existing members can review their current plan in Account. Our planned launch catalog sets out Free, Pro and Max; it does not change existing beta terms.
How does sharing with a team work?
The planned Team subscription is $79 per month for one workspace with five people, pooled capacity and shared ownership. Max is a personal plan with room for occasional collaboration. Team purchasing is not open yet; existing beta accounts retain their current terms. Enterprise is scoped separately. Compare the team options.
Can I change or cancel my subscription?
Manage your subscription from your account’s billing portal. Review the timing and cost of any change before confirming it. The pricing FAQ has more details.
